Review + Swatches : Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze

Oh finally! this is a long waited for me to finally get my hands to this thing!

 Well.. so many reviews out there that raved about the great staying power of this cream eyeshadow. They even had a bold statement to be compared : 
COLOR TATTOO.

Wow. It's a daring one. So, I think aside from other may say and Maybelline's daring promotion, this would be my point of view for this thing. And I hope this would be helpful for you! :)

☆ The Packaging ☆

The packaging definitely look so prestige with a heavy duty thick glass plastic jar. It even look more expensive than the MAC or MUFE one, I guess. ( IMHO :P ) I believe with a good quality packaging, the inside product is gonna be well protected too. Good thing, right? :)

BAD THING is, this is quite heavy. Imagine if you want to carry all of the shades in your makeup suitcase. blah. Looks like you'll gonna carry a heavy duty weights! -_-" Another deceiving about the packaging is the thick glass jar make the product containing more than the actual content is.. *ciyuss? miapahh?* #PLAK.

It's a twist up lid.

Just make sure you always twist it good, so the product is well secure and not dried up so fast.

☆ The Color & Pigmentation ☆

There is something about a bronze color that we need one in our life. This is it? Well.. for now on, this maybe it! :D This is such a good eye base color or eye crease color, flattering for any eye color. Whether you want to do a nude simple eye look or dramatic eye smokey look! The color is a cocoa brown with red undertone color and subtle silver shimmer in it.

The pigmentation is also wonderful. With one good swipe, you'll get an opaque color like the picture above. In fact, with 14oz or 4gr of product containing in each of the jar, it will last you a looong time because you really don't need much for one time of usage of both eyes.

☆ The Staying Power ☆

This. is. awesome.

ahaha.. For a really good quality compared to the high price one, this is something that won't let you down. As I do have an oily eyelid, I'm not experiencing a creasing problem at all, as long as I remove them with oil base makeup remover in the end of the day! :D

BUT. I'm not gonna lie, in my previous trying out any base eye makeup, I rarely experiencing any creasing problem ( except if the product is horrible quality one ). And mostly, I'm experiencing a fading problem. And this thing does to me for approximately good 5-6 hours on my lid.

As for waterproof or water resistant formula, this thing will stay on! I mean, STAY ON even if you rub them hard when it's wet. Maybe loose a bit of the shimmer, but hey. GREAT STAY on the main color! *thumbs up*

Same thing for an overall staying power. After it set, it won't move or budge or smudge or anything.

After it set, I rub them hard.

The color is just stay put, while the shimmer may move and lose a bit.

Overall Thoughts..

I love how Maybelline come so far with this product. It is a great quality compared to the high price one. And it comes from a drugstore! And so far I'm satisfied with what I purchased. The sad thing is, this is still so hard to get in my country. And I have to pay double or even more the price than the price they sell in the US. With a help of local online shop, I have to pay around IDR. 130000-150000 rupiahs ( around $13-15 US Dollars ), while the original price in the State is only $ 5-7 US Dollars.

And after I open this for a month or so, this thing is still in a good shape and didn't dried up so fast in the jar ( another thing that scares me for a cream eyeshadow or gel liner product in the first place! ). And that's leads me to one another question.. 

How well is it gonna hold after it dried up in the jar? 

Anyone could help me with the question and share the story?

☆ The Packaging ☆

I'm quite surprised by the first time I saw, the design doesn't look like most of other cheapy makeup product, but almost like a cutie baby product! *haha. I think it's so clever!* It's simple & cute, pretty straight forward, and feels innocent with a white and milky strawberry color as the main color.

However, it's mostly made from a lightweight plastic packaging. 

I'm not sure about the longevity of the material ( hope it strong enough to hold in my messy makeup bag! >,<" ), but one thing I notice that it could easily gets noticeably looks dirty.

They made it look so sturdy with the shape of the structure though.

And it has a push and snap button ( >> pink in the middle layer )

And there is a bottom layer where you can put the makeup sponge of your choice.

I think it's a HUGE plus thing, where the dirty sponge is need to be separated ( not just sit on top of the product which could easily transfer the bacteria into it )

The color : Vanilla Beige

Another think that caught my eyes is the color.

As you can see, it's a yellow beige color that has a rosey undertone color.

Problem with any other light color selection that I mostly see, somehow they prefer to put a slightly pinky color into it. Yes, it brightens up face. BUT, as far as I notice, it easily transfer too contrast or too cool on me. Possibly notice you wear a powder on your face?! well.. some may like, some may don't. it's a matter of individual preference, right? :) Overall, this is a good color for a light/fair skintone girl!

☆ The Coverage & Staying Power ☆

Moving on with the swatches, as well for pigmentation..

Sorry to say, I think it's not suit as "Two Way Cake" or they may explain a mixture of Powder + Foundation. The coverage is too sheer. And I only can use this as a setting powder to any of my base face makeup.

 and that's the 2-3 layers on my hands.

Maybe the down side for me particularly is the sheer coverage and how it covers NOTHING to my blemishes ( if you wear it alone ). BUT, it has a GREAT oil control on me. Maybe the texture more on the dry side, so it absorb oil and shine like no other business. It does keep my face matte and shine free longer! :o

Also, I like how it does not crumbly much on the packaging when you sweep your brush into it. With 11gr of product, this will last for a good amount of time on me.

☆ The Other Benefit ☆ 

You know I'm kinda hesitant at first to use any of Rohto Product >> I'm having a major breakout from using Hada Labo Indonesia :( , so that's why I always protect my skin with primer or my trusted makeup base underneath this product. And so far so good. I'm not experiencing a break out using this product for around 2 weeks of usage.

☆ Recommended Usage ☆

Apparently, you can use this formula as wet and dry. It explained, as for a foundation coverage you can use a wet sponge, and as for a powder coverage you can use a dry sponge. 

I never like to make any of my dry-pressed-compact-powder to be dipped into some liquid ( and I think it will just ruined the rest of the consistency in the packaging ). So.. sorry, for this time I won't bother to try and make a review that way :)

 

If you want, you can try this technique >> carve a small piece of the pressed powder, separate it into another clean container, then you can dipped it in with a wet sponge.

☆ The Packaging ☆

This is a really tiny super cute single blush. It's a simple design with a clear plastic as the cover ( love this! you can see the true color easily without opening it ) and the same baby pink color like the Two Way Cake one. I like to carry this in my makeup bag because it's so small and lightweight.

 The color : Blooming Rose

 Look at how it's on the pan is something that I won't intrigued to buy in the first place. haha.. It look so deep, warm and not so cheerful for my taste as for a pink blush.

 BUT, I change my mind when I swatch it!

 It just blew my mind right away. It turn into a fresh rosey pink color and it's a matte finish >> will look natural on the cheek! LOVE it! :) ❤
I guess, never judge a blush by it's look on the pan is something I need to learn from now on :D

☆ The Coverage & Staying Power ☆

I think the pigmentation is just okey for me. Not super pigmented, but not super sheer like the Two Way Cake one as well. For the swatches above I need 2 layers to build the color.

It also last for a good amount of time until I finally remove all of my makeup in the end of the day. ( hmm.. maybe I could say, fade a bit in within 3-4 hours on my face ).

OVERALL THOUGHTS..

I think this is a really good local makeup product that worth to try. I'm not sure about the price range that this gonna cost for each of the item >> hence, these were all still rare and hard to find at any of our local drugstore here in Indonesia. But if I had to recommend you to try, I LOVE the blush! It's my go to one and I've been nonstop using it since then. Looks fresh and pink flush naturally on the cheek. love love :)

Seriously, this is all came out all of a sudden. When I'm just planning to go to the gym and do Body Combat, it's apparently a Halloween Special Class at Celebrity Fitness La Piazza.

No extra preparation, just a thing that I got in my makeup bag. And I know it's bad. BUT, really fun to share with you guys! Since I never do a costume-y makeup transformation ( well.. i should do this more often in the future! *addicted! :P ) I'm just imagining a cat look with its famous long lashes, whiskers and nose.

 

 my liquid liner is dried out! >,<" that's why so many failed lines on the whiskers there. *lol 

any recommendation for a good liquid liner, anyone? I need to get a new one! ^^
